Hello Recusant,

Unfortunately the exact time of version 3.7 release is not yet known.

We do our best to release it as soon as possible.

Thanks, i'll keep an eye on this thread.

Any ETA for the Beta to become final? I wouldn't mind trying it out for the lossless aspect, even if it doesn't yet retain metadata.

Thanks.

Hello Recusant,

Thank you for your question.

The current beta version of Video Splitter saves now metadata from some files and some cameras.

Metadata saving for AVCHD files will be supported in the next releases of Video Splitter.

Thanks... does that mean it presently doesn't retain metadata, at least for this camera?

Hi Olga, thanks for the quick reply.

I've uploaded the file to SkyDrive, how do i PM you the link? (it's nothing particularly private, but it's not for the whole world to see either :)

I use MediaInfo to view the metadata of normal videos, but it doesn't show much from my digital camera. I've only just started to play with the new camera (not having a digital video camera before) so i'm open to suggestions for which programs i should use to manage/track videos i create with this camera.

If it matters, it's a Panasonic DMC-FZ200.

Cheers.

Hello Recusant,

Thank you for your post.

We have beta version of Video Splitter that supports metadata saving.

http://solveigmm.com/download/SolveigMM_Video_Splitter_3_7_Beta.exe

Files from different camcoders have specific metadata parameters.

So to be sure that Video Splitter save all metadata from your file, could you please upload for us sample of your file to any file host service, e.g. dropbox.com or filedropper.com?

Please let us know also what software do you use to view metadata in your files.

Thank you in advance.

Hiya,

I've been hunting far and wide for an editor that will allow me to do lossless basic cutting, trimming, joining etc of AVCHD taken from my camcorder and retain all the metadata such as date/time, format, gps (if camera is so equipped) etc. I realise SMM Vid Splitter will re-encode the frames that are trimmed etc and i like that this is not buried deep in the site, props for the openness.

So far i've come across two products that might do it, but it's proven difficult to tell, particularly regarding metadata from the offerings on the sites.

SMM Vid Splitter is one product, the other is Aunsoft's Final Mate (but, the site has no forum, which just feels wrong in this day and age).

My camera is a Panasonic DMCFZ200, it's a new model released late last year.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
