General Discussion / Best way to edit this type of video
« Last post by MedowsGomes on November 18, 2019, 06:11:32 PM »
Hi. I am new to video editing. I have davinci resolve 16 but I have not done a project in it yet. I have streamed on twitch so I know how to use obs. I want to take a video and play it in the background and have my webcam feed in a corner of the video narrating what is happening in the video using a usb mic.

Would you recommend that I use the video editing program like davinci resolve to put the video together or use a window capture in a program like obs and put my webcam feed on it in that and then record the video from obs and use that to put the webcam over the background video instead? Would obs have lower quality than if I did the two videos and the mic input and put them together in davinci resolve? Is there any benefit to doing it in davinci resolve instead of obs? I plan to upload the video to youtube. It would seem like obs may be easier but I am new to this so wanted to ask how you would do it.fedloan easybib

Hi. What is going on in 7.3?   I can't seem to trim a file to save my life. Nothing is working.
I used 6.0 from 2016 and just upgraded.  I've re-exported this edit 7 different ways and am not getting an edited output.
I read through the new help file which is relatively straightforward (except there is no "Start Trimming" under the Edit menu.

There is a discrepancy in that the orig file being 912,477kb  and upon exporting selected fragment OR using File->Save Media file As
It reports that the newly outputted result is 812.xx etc - correctly smaller for the edit - however the resulting file is still the exact same 912,477.

Something is definitely off. This isn't brain surgery.  Pls advise.

SolveigMM AVI Trimmer / No-bull freeware video converter?
« Last post by RabinGomes on November 16, 2019, 09:13:59 PM »
Back in the late 2000s and early 2010s I used to use Super for my video conversion. It was slow but it worked. Then in 2015 I found Freemake Video Converter, which was faster, had a nicer interface and was entirely free. It was really nice!

But now Freemake is basically crippleware and inserts their own logo at the end of converted videos, and I've read that Super forces third party software down your throat as a condition for using the "Free" version which is pretty sad for something that used to be completely free and with no bullshit thrown at.

Basically I want to know what are my options for a freeware video converter for windows that's not gonna be crippleware or a trojan horse of some sort.
So normally I use WMP or MPC to play videos. I recently downloaded PotPlayer for my videos. But all the videos when run in it look terrible. Like they are fuzzy. Lower resolution or something. And yet the videos are fine in any other video player. Is there some settings I need to fix in potplayer?

General Discussion / Best video settings for high res output
« Last post by DasmakFarbin on November 15, 2019, 08:18:09 PM »
I have a general question about video output settings. I am starting to do more product release videos for work and in my past videos i haven't been happy with the video quality after i render. I work with a Canon 6D and it seems like i am either not focused correctly or the video is grainy. It just never looks "finished" cinematic, it just looks dull. I want to up my game and was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction on how i can improve. What are the basic settings i should be using on a 6D for video. What mode should i be recording in? What fps? Whats is the correct way to keep focus? Do you have links to forums, guides, videos, resources that i might find helpful? IDK Anything. lol. Talk me through this.... Also Magic Lantern? Still a thing?

Hello WilsonPatel,
You can use a SolveigMM Video Splitter software or AVI Trimmer which is a freeware but has less functionality comparing with Video Splitter.
