Video Splitter / Howto preview edits/cut locations?
« on: November 25, 2016, 07:02:22 AM »
In videoredo after I have made my cuts I can preview my cuts by setting a 1-2 second lead in time, toggle preview, and then use the < & > keys to jump from cut to cut and watch the cut point to ensure it is what I want. How can I do this in SVS?

Video Splitter / Re: UI in 4k monitors [Request]
« on: November 25, 2016, 06:57:27 AM »
I also have a UI request /complaint.
The UI is miniscule on a 4k laptop. There should be a preference setting to adjust for these wide differences between the low res monitor guys and the current times users.
Having said that, I'm passing on a hack that works well for 4k resolution on adobe apps and similarly on SolveigMM Splitter.

The file i used for the adobe apps worked here by changing the name to SMMVSplitter_Home.exe.manifest and putting in the program directory.
I agree-SVS does not handle high DPI setup very well. I have a 4K 40 inch seiki monitor and need a magnifying glass to read the UI :)

Video Splitter / Please add Tivo support
« on: September 06, 2015, 05:14:57 PM »
Normally I use VideoReDo to edit my Tivo files directly after transferring from the Tivo with TivoDesktop.
VRD uses a Tivo supplied dll (codec) to decrypt my Tivo files.

How can I get SVS to also use the Tivo dll to edit without having to decrypt offline first before editing?

Video Splitter / Re: Side By Side Installation (V4 & V5)?

Correction-the olde version V4 seems to work fine, and V5 will open ts files (mpeg2), but hangs on mp4/flv files. It seems the 2 dll's are the cause of the problem.
if I could extract the 2 offending dll's from the installer and put them in the V5 installation folder both should work fine I think since windows will look in the application folder first for libraries before system wide folders - at least that is how I recall how windows resolved dynamic link libraries?

OK-so I went ahead and ran the installer for V5 and told it to install in a folder SolveigMM Video Splitter Business 5, with the other version installed in SolveigMM Video Splitter Business 4, and after it noticed V4 installed it prompted to uninstall V4, which I dismissed the uninstallation prompt and the V5 installed then proceeded to install V5 in its own folder. During installation, the installer prompted me that 2 dll's av*.dll were OLDER in the V5 than what was already installed which is odd, so I kept the currently installed V4 newer dll's. It also prompted me for an xml file I think it was. Apparently these files are stored in the windows system folders? Anyhow it seems they both coexist after opening and file or 2 in each version.

Is it OK to run side by side or are the 2 dll's missing exported functions which will cause the editor to crash or misbehave.
Why are older versions of dll's installed with the newer version of the application? Seems odd almost like a mistake?

Video Splitter / Re: View only selected parts

I would second that request-very handy for reviewing edits to see the transitions before writing the entire file out to storage, which could be a length time consuming task for large recordings.  I once had a 76GB recording from TSReader (forgot I left it recording) and had to edit the thing. Preview of the edits in another editor is a really nice feature to allow you to fine tune the edit points.

Video Splitter / Side By Side Installation (V4 & V5)?
« on: March 21, 2015, 12:24:18 PM »
I want to have side by side installations of V4 & V5 on my workstation but when I try to install V5 and select a different installation folder it sees that V4 is installed and wants to uninstall it first, which I do not want to do. I want to be able to run either or and switch back and forth between versions. Other programs allow this-like VideoReDo. How can I accomplish this with SolveigMM Video splitter. BTW-this is the Business version.

Thanks
Boyd

Video Splitter / Font Size - Defaults Are Hard To Read
« on: February 24, 2014, 01:21:25 PM »
I use 24 inch and 30 inch monitors and find that the default font size in the user interface to be very small and hard to read.
I see in the preferences menu you can change the text color, but there is no way to make the text larger. Is it possible to increase the size of text in the user interface without resorting to changing Windows OS wide "Ease of Access" settings?

BTW-I like this application as a complimentary to my primary video editor VideoReDo.

Thank you
Boyd
