Video Splitter / How to transfer license from inoperative computer
« on: January 19, 2024, 02:54:35 AM »
I see that in order to transfer a current license to a new computer, you have to use the Delete operation on the old computer. Unfortunately, that computer is inoperative. How can I transfer the license in this situation, please?

Thanks

Video Splitter / How to frame-cut videos with subtitles
« on: June 08, 2023, 09:22:36 AM »
I searched and searched to find a video editor that provides frame-by-frame cutting of MKV or other video files that contain text-based subtitles (srt/ass,etc). I was assured by Solveig advertising that this (non-avi) Video Splitter would do just that.

However, I can find no documentation anywhere about how to do this. Please either explain that in your replies or direct me to someplace I can find that info. If this can only be done with files that contain permanent, embedded subtitles, this application is utter garbage! I have at least a dozen apps that will do that already, including quite a few open-source/freeware tools!

If your tool doesn't do this with MKV files or the equivalent, I want my money back.

Thanks

Video Splitter / Video rarely shown after loading media files for edit
« on: March 18, 2022, 10:56:14 PM »
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, especially since I'm unfamiliar with v7.6.2, but no matter what I try, I can't find a reliable way to see the video content of the file I want to edit. Even though I use the exact same vid, sometimes I can see the video, but usually I cannot. However, I can hear the audio just fine. And I can see the video in the timeline area.

Here's what I've tried (along with other variants): I drag and drop any video file onto the "Open or drag files for editing" area (I primarily use .mkv format, but I see the same problem with .mp4).  I see no error message, but when I press the Play button, I hear the correct audio, but I rarely does it show any video. I cannot detect any pattern as to when the Media Splitter will display the video or not. It seems random.

My goal in using Video Splitter Home is to cut edit videos with .ass subtitles merged into the file to be edited using MKVToolNix GUI. But I've also tried it without subtitles yet I see the same random problem.

Perhaps there's a codec issue? I am confused by the list of codecs and their priorities in the list that the Media Splitter shows. Can someone please help me out?

I'm running 64-bit Windows 10 Pro on a desktop machine.

Thanks!

Video Splitter / Where can I get correct, current documentation?
« on: October 15, 2020, 03:49:26 AM »
I've been struggling like hell to figure out exactly how to perform rather basic clipping with your Video Splitter for Windows. I purchased it because it can cut MP4/MKV videos with subtitles.

I've used quite a few different video splitters, but, with respect, yours is the most non-intuitive I've ever encountered. This wouldn't matter so much except that your English documentation is obsolete because it doesn't correspond to the latest version. The instructions show menu items and other controls and colors and what not that don't exist in the current version.

Where can I find updated English documentation for the Windows version?

Thanks!
