Thanks Dmitry.  I will be monitoring it.  John.

Hi Dmitry,
What did you find?  It has been several weeks since I uploaded the file.

Thanks, John

Dmitry,
Libavcodec is set for the Divx boxes... although the only one I need to play the file with GraphEdit is DivX 5 (using WM ASF Reader->ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder-> Video Render).

However, it still will not play with WMP10. I have set ffdshow through Programs|ffdshow|Configuration and Programs|ffdshow|VFW Cinfiguration but it looks like WMP is not picking it up.

When I de-install native divx, and try to open the file with WMP, I get "Windows Media PLayer cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer".  So it seems as if WMP is not recognizing ffdshow.

Aside from installing ffdshow, is there anything I need to do to register it so WMP can use it?

If you would still like me to send a file, please let me know where I should upload it to.

Thank you.  John.

Dmitry,
Thanks for the quick reply.  I have ffdshow installed (version Oct 12 2004) and had also run the BigFix.  I believe this is what you had recommended.  However, I still cannot open with WMP.  I am using WMP 10.00.00.3646.

GraphEdit certainly recognizes my divx encoded ASF file because when I Open with GraphEdit, the following filters appear in the graph: RawVideo->DivX Decoder Filter->Video Renderer.  Likewise an ASF file from a straight AVI (uncompressed) is also recognized... when I Open with GraphEdit I get: RawVideo->Color Space Converter->Video Renderer.

But I do not know why WMP does fails to render the video.

Please keep the suggestions coming... I have to be close at this point.   John.

SolveigMM Video Editing SDK / Getting closer...

Thanks Dmitry.  I can now write an ASF file with dixv encoded content and play it back with no problem through GraphEdit.  However, I cannot play the ASF file with WMP... I get a C00D11CD: Unknown Error message from WMP.  If I create an ASF from an uncompressed AVI, I do not get an error but the video image is garbled when I play.

I get the same issue if I use the ASF Muxer app instead of GraphEdit to create the ASF.

I would appreciate any other suggestions... Thank you.  John

I have the same problems as mparr when running the AFT Multiplexer so tried to use it in a graph filter... as per Dmitry Vergeles message on Jan 18.  Dmitry suggested:

"There are DirectShow graph types the muxer can be tested within:

File Source-> AVI Splitter [DivX]-> SolveigMM ASF Multiplexer
[AC3]-> "

However, I cannot find SolveigMM ASF Multiplexer [AC3] in the DirectShow Filters list.  Perhaps this is why I get a "Failed to build DirectShor Filter graph" error message with the ASF Mux.

Where do I look to find the filter?  Thanks for your help.  John.
