Hanging during splitting

Hello citlee,

Thank you for your question.

Yes, you are right. Why are you asking this?

According to the bug you have reported, I would no recommend you to use such corrupted files anywhere until the new updated working version will be ready.

Thanks.

From the product page:

"For all media files smart editing, frame-accurate appoach is used. SolveigMM advanced know-how technology keeps 99% of data and only transcodes a few frames at the beginning and end of the video segments, so files are processed fast and lossless."

I took this to mean that I can select with frame accuracy and export fragments out of a video, and that SolveigMM will re-encode the parts between the first frame and the next keyframe at the beginning and end of the fragment. Is this not the case? Am I doing it wrong?

My workflow is this:

Open file in SolveigMM
Find relevant parts, add markers to select portions
Right click within fragment and Save Selected Fragment As

Or ideally:

Open file in SolveigMM
Find all parts I want to create clips from, add markers to select all fragments to be saved
Mark all other sections of the video as to be deleted
Save All Fragments As

Thanks,
Lee

Hello citlee,

Thank you for your reply.

If you need the key frame to be first frame of the resulted file you need to edit file with key frame (GOP) accuracy. By defult there is the Smart editing (Frame mode) enabled, that means that the video will be started with exactly that frame that was selected as the fragment's beginning. In key frame mode the fragment will be started with the nearest key frame.

You can find more about difference between key frame and frame accurate editing here:

http://www.solveigmm.com/en/faq/video-splitter-inaccurate-splitting/

So to use key frame accurate mode, you need to disable smart editing in Tools -> Frame accuracy (Smart mode).

I wouldn't also recommend you to use corrupted files or files produced with corrupted files. Please wait for the fix first to be sure that you get the valid result.

Thank you.

citlee:
While I'm at it, it appears that the files generated by exporting the fragments between markers are invalid - in that Windows doesn't generate a thumbnail, and trying to import them as media into Vegas 13 causes it to crash. By opening a saved fragment in VLC and going right to the beginning, it appears that it is not a key frame (in this example, the first 8 frames) - so I'm guessing that the "smart editing" isn't being done either. Here's a link to an example fragment: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w0akuv8usgmrobq/solveig-fragment-corrupt.mp4?dl=1

Am I missing something? Do I need to explicitly turn on "smart editing" somewhere? "Smart Mode Settings" "Default trimming accuracy" is set to "Frame".

Thank you for your post and your feedback.

I've investigated this problem and came to conclusion that this issue happens only with large MPEG-TS of file size approximately 15 Gbs or larger.

We will try to fix this issue in the near future.

As soon as the updated version will be ready, I will post at this thread.

Thanks for your patience.
