Yes, you need to use the "scissors" button under the segment to set it to be saved or deleted in the version 8.
This is the best way in version 8 to set segments to be saved/deleted in the final video.

I noticed that in version 8, I no longer can split videos by just simply entering the time (start and end) and clicking the save button. Now, I have to use the cut segment scissor icon which I'm not a fan of. Is there a way for me to just enter the start/end time and click save to split videos in version 8?
