Title: unable to install "cannot register SMM_EditEngine.DLL"
Post by: mbassman on February 05, 2010, 05:24:28 AM
I have attempted to install the latest beta and get the error message about registering the dll and the product then uninstalls.  My prior version returns the same error.
Please help - thanks.  My order ID is 1237088627-32018-880394

Hello michael,
Thank you for your post.

I guess you have this errod due to you don't have installed WMFruntime on your PC.

You can download that at this place:
Windows Media Format 9 Series Runtime update (5MB)
http://www.dptop.com/app/wmfdist9.exe

Or just install Windows Media Player
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx

Thanks for the suggestion.  However, I already had windows media player.  I downloaded and installed the runtime files, and then installed video splitter again, but received the same error.

What else can I do?

thanks,
mike

Hello Mike,
Please make a small test: download and extract the dependency walker utility http://solveigmm.com/files/depend.zip (http://solveigmm.com/files/depend.zip)
and also the Editing Engine itself http://solveigmm.com/files/SMM_EditEngine.dll (http://solveigmm.com/files/SMM_EditEngine.dll)

Open Depends.exe and drag-n-drop the SMM_EditEngine.dll there. Then click 'File' and choose "Save As.." menu. As a result you'll get the .dwi file. Please send a letter with this file to our support (support(at)solveigmm(dot)com).
