Title: upgrade from version 1 to version 2
Post by: philebus on April 17, 2011, 02:31:54 PM
Hi,

I've been a longtime user of videosplitter. Currently I have version 1.2.7.15 and it has worked well with my old win xp system.

Now I have upgraded my system to windows 7 64 bit and am wondering if it might be good to upgrade video splitter to the latest version.

So I have a few questions.

1. Is the latest version compatible with win 7 64 bit? If so, is it a 32 bit application that simply works well with 64 bit or is there a 64 version available (or in the pipeline)?

2. Is there a discount on the licence fee for an upgrade as opposed to a first purchase. In short, must I pay full price? Or is there a discount?

3. I notice that the coming version 2.4 will have certain features that I desire. If I have a licence for 2.3 will the upgrade to 2.4 be free?

thanks

Robert

Hello Robert,

Thanks for contacting us.

Yes, the latest Video Splitter 2.3 is compatible with Windows 7,  64 bit. This product works well both on 32 bit systems and on 64 bits. It've received officail mark "Compatible with Windows 7" from Microsoft corporation.

Pelese  have a look at his Microsoft Page:

OK, I followed the links and purchased version 2 via upgrade option, but upon purchase the link provided was only to the 2.2 beta version (dated 2009).

Anyway, I downloaded and registered this version but can't update to the latest WINDOWS 7 COMPATIBLE VERSION. First, the update option in the registrator does not work. And second, the video splitter web page with the download link to version 3 is not accessible.

So is there anyway you can directly send me the link to my email address. I can provide my new activation code upon request. But I didn't pay to update to be stuck with an old 2009 beta version. Something is clearly not right at your end.

OK, I managed to download, install and register the latest version by getting it from cnet download.com. Still, have a look at your own website to see why the page for download won't load (or at least won't do so here 'Downunder' in Australia). Also check out why when you purchase the product through upgrade you only get the 2.2 beta version.

Anyway, I'm not really complaining as I now have the latest version registered at half price and I DO REALLY LIKE YOUR PRODUCT. I've been using it since early in version 1 and acknowledge it is the best out there at what it does and should get better when it split H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 files. Note, though that in respect of h.264 Videoredo already does a fine job on splitting and joining these files without re-encoding. And it is fast too. But I am not all that expert in using videoredo and I'm sure it has its own quirks and limitations.
