Hello slvideo,

Thank you for your question. the files out of DVD with .VOB extensions are MPEG-2 files. So if you want it to have .mpg extension, merely type it in "save as" Splitter dialog or rename the extension after editing in explorer.

And I'm afraid I can't find a proper answer.

You can check the version in about dialog, through left-top application icon.
But that will be a version of the certain Trimmer.exe binaries.

The versions we publish at AVI trimmer page, is an intallation versions, as it ships some components except Trimmer.exe binaries, that also can be updated to fix some bug.

So the main version to decide update your software is of course installation version. But as far as I know this version is only shown while installing, and it is the installation file name also incorporate it - like "SolveigMM AVI Trimmer 1.6.911.18.exe"


Well, probably we should do two things to our products:

1. Show at dialogs both binaries and installation version
2. Make an ability to check update

1. Дело в том, что даже если убрать "галки" с пунктов "Slider K-Frame Positioning" и "Markers K-Frame Positioning", проблема остаётся. То бишь есть эта функция (K-Frame Positioning) или нет - не имеет значения.

Да, эти галки лишь позволят вам ставить маркеры на ключевые кадры, т.е. понимать откуда будет осуществляться редактирование.

2. Значит, эту проблему устранить невозможно? Т.е. при нарезке всегда будут оставаться лишние 3-8 сек. вначале?

Пока для WMV/AVI/ASF файлов только работа по ключевым кадрам. т.е если начало отрезка стоит не на k-frame, то сплиттер будет добирать недостающие кадры от начала гопа, и естли ваш видео материал закодирован с длинными группами кадров ~10 сек (если вы кодируете его сами просто выставляйте GOP короче) то да, будут отсаваться данные вначала отрезков.

Если вы работаете с ACVHD и MPEG-2 такого эффекта не будет, т.к. точность для этих форматом покадровая

Описанное Вами поведение абсолютно верно, т.к видео сплиттер работает с точностью до ключевого кадра

Выглядит это примерно так

Видео последовательность обычно состостоит из так называемой группы кадров (GOP - groups of pictures ) которая начинается с ключевого кадра, как показано на рисунке.




Ключевые карды закодированы независимо и ссылаются на другие видео фреймы. Т.е могут быть декодированы без какой либо дополнительной инфрмации. Чтобы обеспечить видео редактирование без потери качества и в быстром режиме сплиттер режет AVI/ASF/WMV видео по ключевым кадрам.

Чтобы видеть те кадры по которым будет происходить редактирование, сделаны функции позиционирование по ключевым кадрам:


Несмотря на вышеописанное, спиттер работает с точностью до кадра для MPEG-2 и AVCHD файлов, перекодируя только часть кадров в начале и конце выделенного  фрагмента, оставляя 90 % исходных данных не тронутыми.

I suspect you slipped into your native language here.  Can you translate to English?  :-)

Well, that means an accuracy of the start/stop positions you can set to define some fragment to save it or cut out.

In connection to HyperCam, where you have an access to video codecs K-frame interval settings, the less value you set the precise will be further editing.
If you are evaluating media editor, just push left/right arrows and cursor will jump to key frames which are being cue points for editing.

And if you record video as uncompressed, all frames get K-Frame, so the editor operates with raw video with frame accuracy.

So if you had all three products, how would you create videos and avoid the K-Frame limitation, what ever that is?  Would I record in Hypercam, but use Video Splitter to edit it?  What would that buy me.  Sort of my first question in reverse.

Well, the Splitter edits only MPEg-2 video files with frame accuracy (with partial re-encoding, only a few frames).

Exactly, but please be aware that HyperCam editor main editing features are AVI K-Frame accuracy editing with no re-encoding and AVI files (with same parameters) fast and lossless merging.

Playing with the trial version, I can not save edited files.  Is this a limitation only of the trial version or is there any limitations in product to save the edited version?

Yes that is a limitation of a trial, probably we will change it in future.

If I purchase Hypercam, would I want to get the VideoSplitter product.  What does VideoSplitter do that I might need?

I depends on you needs. The separate Video Spliiter version has some features that HyperCam media editor does not.

It supports WMV,ASF MPEG-2 video and MP3 / WMA audio files, has batch manager and goes with command line interface.

Is there any combined super product that combines the different products?

Do you mean some bundle? No, at the present moment we don't combined any bundles to one.

Woul it be attractive for you to have SolveigMM HyperCam + SolveigMM Video Splitter + SolveigMM WMP Trimmer Plugin in one bundle with significant discount?

How to gather codec information installed on your PC.

It can be done via DXDIAG utility.
For this just call Windows "Start"->"Run"->dxdiag. After utility finish PC scanning (in a half of minute) push "Save All information" button and save the resulted txt file.

Исправления:
- Теперь в мультипрограмных TS файлах проигрывает одно видео/ одно аудио
- Теперь в мультипрограмных TS файлах можно на ходу переключать видео / аудио потоки
- Исправлен Save Project AS. к файлу не добавлялось расширение
- Для иногда сохранялcя только один из выделенных фрагментов. исправлено.
