Hello Pattie,

Thank you for uploading the file.
In your case you deal with the K-Frame accuracy that is only supported by the Splitter for WMV/ASF/AVI files.

So the position of the second K-frame you can start trimming from is 10:987 seconds.
End position of trimming fragment can be set with frame caauracy.

Hello Arlo,

Thank you for contacting us. What version of the Splitter do you use? The latest version does not involve Elecard Mpeg2 demuxer (that has the same guid as MC one) as a registered object, so I guess you have some old version.

I have a video in WMV format that I'm trying to trim 6 seconds off the front and 3 off the back.  I set up my cuts, make the front & back as cut-off fragments, mark the center, as keep on fragment, then Click your left mouse button on the central fragment to be splitted.
Click the Trim button.  the file is saved, however, the first 6 seconds are still there. 

Is there a problem with the software or me?

Thank you for the feedback and file uploading.
At the present moment SolveigMM Video Splitter does not support AVCHD files as they are MPEG-4 AVC.

We are implementing AVCHD frame accuracy editing solution and hope it will get available quites soon. Keep an eye on the site news.

That means it has no accuracy at all, you're at the mercy of the key frame. Splitting is impossible with this product except through dumb luck.

Assuming we are talking about SolveigMM Video Splitter, it is not the case, as by default markers and cursor can only be set to K-Frame positions, thus you get what you see.
Moreover we are working on frame accuracy editing. MPEg-2 can be edited to frame. Next will be AVI.

BTW, many times the Key Frame will be frozen for a second before the video "split" begins playing.

Could you provide us with the sample?
