Video Splitter / Re: VideoSplitter Imprecision

Hi, I have a lot of avi files in divx5 format and I'd like to remove commercials. I used trial version of videosplitter, but it has the SAME problem of Virtual Dub: cuts are not precise.
So, in the final output file I always find a few seconds (2-3) of commercials between a fragment and the following one.
K-frames are 5 seconds far form each other; if use them as beginning or ending point for my cuts I'll remove a few seconds of the movie, and not only commercials!

Please Help me

Dear Jacko,

Thank you for your questions. You are right, despite SolveigMM Video Splitter supports now frame accurate editing for MPEG-2 files, K-frame accuracy for AVI sill remains.

Here is a technical description why it happens:
http://elecard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5606#5606

We promised our customers to add frame accurate editing support for WMV and AVI and these features are sill in the feature schedule.

Video Splitter / Solveig Video Splitter 1.2.705.05 + Vista 64 bit

Thanks for your reply Dmitry. I am serioulsy thinking of upgrading and replacing Wombe Mpeg video wizard with Solveig 2.0.

But I have one question about your version 2. With Womble, one can combine various edited mpegs (1 or 2) into a movie and then output it as a single file. Can one do this with Solveig. I know one can't do this with previous versions in respect of wmv or avi files, but instead have to edit files with identical properties one after another and then use a joining program to make them into a single file.

Do you understand my question?

thanks

Sure you question is quite reasonable. No Current Version of SolveigMM supports only MPEG-2 (not MPEG-1) and only for trimming with frame accuracy. Joining is coming but is not ready yet.

Hi,

I currently have a licence for Version 1.2.705.05 and don't plan to update to version 2 yet as I already have Womble Video Wizard DVD for editing Mpeg 1 and 2 and unless you can tell me the advantages of switching to Solveig version 2 for mpegs I'll stick with it.

My question is does my version of video splitter support Vista, and in particular Vista 64 bit?

If it doesn't,  does Video Splitter Versioin 2 support Vista 64 bit, and if it doesn't yet, will it do so soon.

thanks

Dear Philebus,

First of all thank you for being our customer for this years. Of course you are not supposed to upgrade your version unless you decide you really need it. I hope you understand that it is pretty difficult to support and develop both versions, therefore only 2.0 is going to be enhanced.

Nevertheless we are going to fix bugs in 1.2 and provide our customers with update upon the request.

As to Vista 64, both 1.2 and 2.0 should operare properly on this OS.

Sorry mate, tried but there's no result.
I'm beggining to think that the problem lies in my XViD video codec.
I use that codec to record some shows via tv card.
Framerate seems to be the cause of audio/video sync problem.

What do you think guys, is it possible?

Can you recommend me some good video codec (DivX quality) to try to record with?

Thanks Dmitry for all the answers, regards to all forum members

Hello coollrc,

Don't think the cause is codecs. ( ffdshow XVID is quite good).
Well you can try one more option. Just for test try to edit your file with our shareware avi splitter. Despite it is trial it will allow you to make all the thing without registration. For doc you can read how to cut AVI.

It has an option menu->control->Obey Sample Times.  Try to trim your avi with this feature to switched on and of.

Please let us know of the results, and if in both cases you will have out of sync, it would be very helpfull to get your AVI for tests on our side.
Thank you for your help!

Hello trash2002,

For this purpose it would be more convenient for you to make use SolveigMM Video Splitter since it has size estimation feature.

Despite is is shareware it will help you to get your task in trial mode.

Ok some more info.
Using some other soft, I see that the Video is Xvid and the audio is MPEG4.
However AviTrim report it as MPEG1,. Can that be the cause of the problem?

Dear Klaus,

Please try to install version 2.0 and check it. Really there was an installation problem with Vista but now it is fixed, so get the latest version from our website.

Please let us know of the results. Thank you.

Thank you , Dmitry, for your response  (and the separate email).
Unfortunately, the installation problem remains. Meanwhile I also purchased version 2 (upgrade) hoping to get a most current download link - but it's the same file from March 4th I downloaded before - and installation under Vista fails (same message: OS not supported). I also found that the download link on your website is the same one as the one you sent with your email.

Best regards,
Klaus

Hello Klaus,

Please try again. Direc link -
http://www.solveigmm.com/files/SolveigMM_Video_Splitter_2_0.zip

Zip should contain - SolveigMM Video Splitter 2.0.803.14.exe.
This version has to operate properly on Vista.

SolveigMM AVI Trimmer / Re: AVI Trimmer Install Error

Every time I attempt to install AVI Trimmer (1.5 or 1.6) it takes me to the language select screen, then I click next and it takes me to the "Welcome to the Installation Wizard" screen and then when I click next again I get the following error message:

"Custom User Interface plugin raised exception on event EV_SHOW DIALOGS"

Then it aborts the install. Any ideas what this might be?

Hello TCGreen,
Thank you for the feedback. Could you please let us knwo what is your OS?

Love the product so far, would like to see
frame-accurate editing for WMV's. But this is the best around!

I do have a problem. My purchased copy was registered a few months ago. Everything was fine until I downloaded the Beta 2.0 version and removed it because it didn't run. Now I can't get my 1.2.705.7 version to run! The registrator window show this:

-SolveigMM Video Splitter   1.2.705.04   Activated
  SolveigMM Video Splitter   Unknown    Activated

Can I fix this? I need this to work as soon as possible to edit a project for a client. Thanks for your help

Roland
