Video Splitter / Re: Question About Video Editor
« Last post by Olga Krovyakova on March 22, 2024, 04:35:35 PM »
Hello hurricane51,

Thank you for your questions.

Smart rendering means lossless cut and join, keeping the original video quality while the editing thanks to that the video is not re-encoded if you use trimming only.

So if you make only splitting, editing of your files by removing unwanted fragments, it works without re-encoding, so the output quality will be preserved.

If you use other features of the Video Editor along with editing (adding audio, pictures, text overlay), then there will be re-encoding only in those places in the file where these elements will be used.

If the edited files with different parameters, then the different ones will be re-encoded

Due to the fact that the file is not completely re-encoded during the editing, not only the original video quality is preserved, but Video Editor also allows you to quickly complete the editing and get the resulting file.

What is Smart Rendering, and how does it ensure the quality of the original video?
Video Splitter / Re: How to frame-cut videos with subtitles

Hello ogryzek,

Unfortunately tx3g subtitles editing is yet not supported by Video Splitter at the present time.
We will possibly add such support to Video Splitter's next releases.
If such support apear, we will post it at this topic.
Video Splitter / Re: How to frame-cut videos with subtitles

Hi Olga

There are a few YT videos on basic features of Video Splitter that developer has posted, including at least one showing instructions on how to deal with additional streams embedded in video files.  However those guides are a bit misleading, or perhaps they don't fully explain software limitations.

Just like Ghred1147 noted, I have also noticed that Video Splitter does not handle text-based subtitle streams.

Here is a sample video info from ffmpeg:

Notice that it consists of 3 streams.

However when the same file is opened in Video Splitter (ver 8.0.2401.22 as of this writing) , here's what I see:

Notice that it shows only 2 streams, with subtitles stream missing.  When the edited media is saved, the subtitle stream is not preserved.

This is a rather BIG DEAL as the user is not notified in any way that some content won't be loaded for editing, and hence will be gone from the output.  Even more surprising is the fact that even free editors can load and preserve and/or cut tx3g text-based subtitles.  This is a major shortcoming (a bug perhaps?) of Video Splitter, and I am not surprised that Ghred1147 was so adamant about it.  Although I wouldn't go as far as colling it useless...
