Audio distorted after trimming file

I just downloaded the SolveigMM WMP Trimmer Plugin Free Download and used it to trim/cut out 7 seconds of audio in a WMP file.  After saving the new file to my computer and opening it to see if it worked, the audio is cut where it should be but it is all distorted and a bit evil sounding from that moment on.  Am I doing something wrong?
