Hello Olga,

same issue here, using the current version. In VLC Player, I have to tick the subtitle track to see it.
I got the infos below with this tool: http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

I would enjoy options to set a default output language and a default subtitle stream - and an option to leave both as is.

Thank you.

Hello saruri,

Could you please upload the sample of original input file to any file host service, e.g. Google drive or dropbox.com and specify the version of Media Player Classic?

Thank you.

Hi Olga, sure, kindly refer to below:

At first, I thought that I had accidentally unchecked the subtitle in the "Select stream" dialog window, as there's no display of the subtitle when I play it - until I check as my screenshot, and realize that the subtitle is there, just not set as default like the original mkv.

It will be great if this problem could be fixed, as it's annoying that you have to choose (tick) the subtitle every time when you play it, o(โ•ฏโ–กโ•ฐ)o~

Thank you! ^ ^

Hello saruri,

Thank you for your description.

I've reproduced the same issue with VLC player, not MPC.

We will try to find out what can cause the issue and fix it in near future.
As soon as there will be the updated version ready, I'll contact you.

According to MPC, could you please send us screenshot where you see on the output file that the trimmed mkv got "No subtitle" set as default?

Hi Olga, thanks for your kind reply.

I meant the subtitle file is there, but the problem is: I have to tick (choose) it when I play in MPC every time.
i.e. The default subtitle becomes "No" instead of the present "Eng".

My original mkv got "Eng" set as its default subtitle, but its trimmed mkv got "No subtitle" set as default - really don't understand why. How to maintain the same setting as original?

Sorry for my poor explanation before, hope this is clearer, thank you!

Hello Saruri,

Thank you for your post.

To save the subtitle track in output file there should be icon with scissors checked in the field with this subtitle track in the "Select stream" dialog window.

Please see the guidline on how to edit video with subtitles here:

Hi, as subject, my trimmed MKV is perfect, but its prefer subtitle becomes "No subtitle", so I have to manually tick its "Eng" to display subtitle when play in MPC.

Really don't understand why original MKV's preference display of subtitle changed from "Eng" to "No" in trimmed MKV.

Hope any kind soul could help me ASAP please, thank you very much in advance!
