Video Splitter / Re: Delete recent files in 3_6_X

Thanks Olga.

Your suggestion about deleting the strings worked fine.

If you say the delete recent files functionality will be included in the 3.7.X versions of Video Splitter then I might wait for that version rather than download a potentially troublesome beta version.

Video Splitter / Delete recent files in 3_6_X
« on: July 17, 2013, 03:39:39 PM »
In the earlier version of version 3 I used to be able to delete the recent files list by going to the registry and deleting the entries there under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solveig Multimedia\SolveigMM Video Splitter\AVITrimmerApp\Recent File List

In the last few version of 3 I can't do this. The recent files list is empty except for "REG_SZ  (value not set)". Previously it used to list some video files. Anyway, is there any way to delete the recent files list?

Otherwise, I must say I am loving the recent versions of the Video Splitter. I use it exclusively now to edit HD video, and find it far better than Videoredo and Womble, let alone programs like Powerdirector. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Olga. It is a bit of long way round to remove the 'recent file' list but it works.

I've just got a question about how to delete the 'recent file' list. Nothing I seem to do works. Certainly, it can't be done under the "tool" "history list" menu. So is there another way.

Otherwise I guess I could delete these manually if I knew where they are kept on the computer. But I've looked and can't find them. Any ideas?

Video Splitter / Re: upgrade from version 1 to version 2

OK, I managed to download, install and register the latest version by getting it from cnet download.com. Still, have a look at your own website to see why the page for download won't load (or at least won't do so here 'Downunder' in Australia). Also check out why when you purchase the product through upgrade you only get the 2.2 beta version.

Anyway, I'm not really complaining as I now have the latest version registered at half price and I DO REALLY LIKE YOUR PRODUCT. I've been using it since early in version 1 and acknowledge it is the best out there at what it does and should get better when it split H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 files. Note, though that in respect of h.264 Videoredo already does a fine job on splitting and joining these files without re-encoding. And it is fast too. But I am not all that expert in using videoredo and I'm sure it has its own quirks and limitations.

OK, I followed the links and purchased version 2 via upgrade option, but upon purchase the link provided was only to the 2.2 beta version (dated 2009).

Anyway, I downloaded and registered this version but can't update to the latest WINDOWS 7 COMPATIBLE VERSION. First, the update option in the registrator does not work. And second, the video splitter web page with the download link to version 3 is not accessible.

So is there anyway you can directly send me the link to my email address. I can provide my new activation code upon request. But I didn't pay to update to be stuck with an old 2009 beta version. Something is clearly not right at your end.

Video Splitter / upgrade from version 1 to version 2
« on: April 17, 2011, 02:31:54 PM »
Hi,

I've been a longtime user of videosplitter. Currently I have version 1.2.7.15 and it has worked well with my old win xp system.

Now I have upgraded my system to windows 7 64 bit and am wondering if it might be good to upgrade video splitter to the latest version.

So I have a few questions.

1. Is the latest version compatible with win 7 64 bit? If so, is it a 32 bit application that simply works well with 64 bit or is there a 64 version available (or in the pipeline)?

2. Is there a discount on the licence fee for an upgrade as opposed to a first purchase. In short, must I pay full price? Or is there a discount?

3. I notice that the coming version 2.4 will have certain features that I desire. If I have a licence for 2.3 will the upgrade to 2.4 be free?

thanks

Robert

That's great Dmitry. Lossless avchd trimming and joining is JUST what I need!!

I should have thought of that already. Your suggestion Dmitry fixed the problem. The issue lay not in the Coreavc codec,  but in the Haali media splitter that comes with it. Haali splitter is totally necessary in order to play m2ts and mts files in WMP, but has an option in it to use with avi files. I checked that option and now I realise that this is what caused the clash with editing avi in programs like solveig splitter. Anyway, I now unchecked that option and now my 1.2 version of Solveig works fine.

I must say that Solveig splitter is the best on the market by far, but I won't get the new version until it can handle avchd files which I edit a lot. When it can do that, I'll be buying the that version. Until then I will use solveig for avi and wmv, womble for mpeg 1 and 2 (only because I have it already) and whatever works for avchd (at the moment Pinnacle Studio is the best bet, but still not that great).

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't quite quote it as I have unistalled version 1.2.7, but yes, it says something like 'file is corrupt of can't be openned'. But the file isn't corrupt and can be played on a media player and openned in version 2.x.

Video Splitter / solveig 1.2.7.15 suddenly can't open avi files
« on: September 01, 2008, 12:05:44 PM »
Hi Dmitry,

I recently had a problem with my version of solveig video splitter. It would no longer open avi files of any type; including divx etc. I uninstalled it and, thanks to your help, reinstalled it, but it still can't open the files. It can still open and edit wmv and asf files just fine.

I have dual boot on my computer; xp 32 bit on one partition and vista 64 bit on another. It is the xp version which is playing up. Vista still works fine (mainly because I rarely use it and have less programs on that partition).

My feeling is that a program I have installed on xp is interfering with solveig (as well as Pinnacle studio 12, which I use for editing, mainly avchd files shot on my camcorder. Pinnacle also can't open avi files). Maybe it is the Haali video splitter which comes with Coreavc professional codec I use to play avchd files on media player classic and wmp. Interestingly, I can still play all avi content on my computer but I can't open it and edit it in solveig or pinnacle.

Do you have any idea what the problem can be. For your information, the problem doesn't exist with the latest 2.x versions of solveig splitter or with the free solveig avi trimmer. I am stumped, and I can't seem to roll back my computer using system restore for some reason, so I can't fix it that way.

thanks in advance,

Philebus

Video Splitter / Solveig Video Splitter 1.2.705.05 + Vista 64 bit
« on: April 04, 2008, 03:35:01 AM »
Thanks for your reply Dmitry. I am serioulsy thinking of upgrading and replacing Wombe Mpeg video wizard with Solveig 2.0.

But I have one question about your version 2. With Womble, one can combine various edited mpegs (1 or 2) into a movie and then output it as a single file. Can one do this with Solveig. I know one can't do this with previous versions in respect of wmv or avi files, but instead have to edit files with identical properties one after another and then use a joining program to make them into a single file.

Do you understand my question?

thanks

Video Splitter / Solveig Video Splitter 1.2.705.05 + Vista 64 bit
« on: March 29, 2008, 03:07:36 AM »
Hi,

I currently have a licence for Version 1.2.705.05 and don't plan to update to version 2 yet as I already have Womble Video Wizard DVD for editing Mpeg 1 and 2 and unless you can tell me the advantages of switching to Solveig version 2 for mpegs I'll stick with it.

My question is does my version of video splitter support Vista, and in particular Vista 64 bit?

If it doesn't,  does Video Splitter Versioin 2 support Vista 64 bit, and if it doesn't yet, will it do so soon.

thanks

Beta Testing / SolveigMM Video Splitter 1.1 Beta (WMV/ASF support)
« on: March 22, 2006, 01:43:26 PM »
Thanks Dmitry for your quick and very informative reply, and thanks for making such a great product. It sure beats editing WMV files with Microsoft movie maker, or even Ulead Videostudio (which is a good product but useless for WMV).

It would be great to use your product on Mpeg 2 when that becomes available. As for mpeg1 editing, this is not very important for me, except I'd like to edit some music video and flim clips that I have legally downloaded from the net, burn them to a dvd and use them for educative purposes in my work. I realise the quality will not be first class, but if I can edit in a relatively lossless way (as Solveig manages to do with WMV files) then I will not lose too much quality even when I burn them to dvd. And anyway, it would be just for teaching use, not for professional distribution. None of my editing is for commercial use. I am just an interested amateur who stumbled, luckily upon your product through reading the excellent videohelp forums.

Beta Testing / SolveigMM Video Splitter 1.1 Beta (WMV/ASF support)
« on: March 22, 2006, 05:35:49 AM »
Hi,

I just bought SolveigMM Video Splitter 1.1 beta and have been using it to pretty good effect with WMV files. But I have a few questions which hopefully someone can answer.

First, I assume that it does not edit WMV files with what is called 'frame accuracy', but "k frame accuracy'. This leads me to ask what is a K frame?

Second, and following on from this, when I edit WMV files (or any compatible files for that matter) is it best if I edit at the K-frame points or can I just put the file on play and set the markers where I please?

Third. is this product going to be extended to mpeg1 file splitting as well? I would find that pretty useful.

thanks
