Video Splitter / Re: Slow!
« on: January 23, 2009, 04:00:16 AM »
I installed version 2.1.901.22 and although I no longer get the error dialog boxes I still cannot "Save Fragment As" successfully for large video files. I can save fragments from small video files (~250Mb) but not larger ones (>1Gb) even though the fragment is a fraction of the overall video size.

I noticed that this application uses a lot of memory when using this feature and doesn't free it up until the application is closed. To test this I opened a 250Mb video file and saved a small fragment from it several times noting the memory usage between each save. The memory usage grew each time and would not go down even after closing the video file and opening another. And when the SMMVSplitter.exe process reached the 2Gb memory limit of Windows XP the "Now splitting the sequence..." progress bar would stop and give the appearance of being slow although I doubt it would ever complete. I don't remember having this issue when using an older version of this software under a trial license.

Please fix.

I am also having a problem with slowness. I tried to split out 5 minutes of an MPEG video and it’s still running after an hour and appears to be hung with very little CPU or Disk usage. When I started the split the progress bar moved quickly but slowed down towards the end and appears to be stuck at 99% now. The SMMVSplitter.exe process has a VM Size of 1,910,320k! My system has 3Gbytes of memory and a 3.2Ghz processor. Input video: Duration: 34:14:66, Byte size: 4 484 425 728, Video MPEG2, Audio MPEG1, Version 2.1.901.19

Please let me know if there is a fix for this.
