AVI Trimmer will not install

Hi I am trying to install avi trimmer for my daughter on a old laptop i rebuild, I have windows 2000 sp4 running on it with AVG anti virus (its a new install so nothing else on it yet)

I have tried intsall v1.4 v1.5 v1.6 and keep getting the following error

cannot register "C:\program files\common files\solveig multimedia\SMM_editengine.dll"

if anyone could help we would be greatful Thanks

This DLL is required Windows Media Format 9 Series Runtime to be shipped with Windows Media Player 9 and  higher.

You can download and install it separately or with windows media player.
